More progress on my "
strip quilt turned cross quilt." Still playing with the arrangement of the blocks on the design wall here but feeling better about it. I was not sure about this quilt for a while. It was feeling very dark to me and there was initially too much gray, but I am liking the dark/light balance much better now.
I think it is such a fun process to "make it up as you go along" - not really knowing what it is going to look like until you finally get there.
Do you enjoy making it up as you go or prefer to follow a pattern?

love it....I am going to put this down on my list of to does!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kris! i hope you have fun making making one. :)
DeleteLaney, I'm also working my way toward completing a quilt that has a lot of dark (black) fabric. Wasn't sure about it at first and now I love it. Just as I love this one ... Ahhhh, I like to use patterns I make up, but usually change things as I progress. Thanks for asking!
ReplyDeleteThank you Janelle. It's fun to see how things change during the creative process.
DeleteThis is beautiful! I agree that making it up as you go along is more fun and it's nice to end up with something original. I think you've got the perfect balance of lights, darks and brights :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Janine!
DeleteI like your variety of colors. And your border! I did this pattern but kept my fabrics restricted to green and gray (inspired by Mama Sparks World blog). The blocks are so much fun to make I will certainly do this again -- more colorful next time!
ReplyDeleteYour green and gray one sounds nice. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI like it! Right now, I'm a follow the pattern kind of gal, but maybe that's because I'm trying to figure this piecing and quilting thing out. I'm a newbie!
