Wonky Cross Quilt in Progress

More progress on my "strip quilt turned cross quilt."  Still playing with the arrangement of the blocks on the design wall here but feeling better about it. I was not sure about this quilt for a while. It was feeling very dark to me and there was initially too much gray, but I am liking the dark/light balance much better now.

I think it is such a fun process to "make it up as you go along"  - not really knowing what it is going to look like until you finally get there.

Do you enjoy making it up as you go or prefer to follow a pattern?

Linking up with WIP Wednesday, and Let's Bee Social.

Hope you are having a good week!

  2. Laney, I'm also working my way toward completing a quilt that has a lot of dark (black) fabric. Wasn't sure about it at first and now I love it. Just as I love this one ... Ahhhh, I like to use patterns I make up, but usually change things as I progress. Thanks for asking!

  3. This is beautiful! I agree that making it up as you go along is more fun and it's nice to end up with something original. I think you've got the perfect balance of lights, darks and brights :)

  4. I like your variety of colors. And your border! I did this pattern but kept my fabrics restricted to green and gray (inspired by Mama Sparks World blog). The blocks are so much fun to make I will certainly do this again -- more colorful next time!

  5. I like it! Right now, I'm a follow the pattern kind of gal, but maybe that's because I'm trying to figure this piecing and quilting thing out. I'm a newbie!
