Green and Gray Quilt Finished

Hope you had a nice weekend. I was able to get my Green and Gray quilt finished! And I got our tree decorated! That felt like a productive day.  :)

This quilt is a departure from what I normally do, but I woke up one morning with this design in my head so I got out my graph paper, colored pencils and calculator. I considered a few different color schemes before deciding on Kona Chartreuse and Coal.

My husband likes the back better than the front.

The back is pieced from leftovers from the top, and some other things from my stash,  I don't know why, but lately I have been motivated to use what I have on hand whenever possible.  I guess I feel like I need to use what I have already purchased before I buy more.

Here it is on the old navy leather couch.  I kind of like the green with the navy and maybe it helps the couch?? Can anything help this old couch?

I enjoyed making this quilt, but I really LOVE sewing patchwork and there's not much of that going on here. But I am learning how big I can go on my little Bernina and still quilt it myself. Of course, the vertical lines are pretty simple to do on a home machine. And this is just a throw size.

I did three rows of straight line quilting in each strip - matching the thread to the fabric.  I think I like how that turned out.

And here's the tree all decorated and ready for gifts to go underneath. Looks like gift wrapping is in my immediate future.

What have you been up to this weekend?

  3. I totally hear you about enjoying the piecing more than the quilting. I feel the same way! But I do love solids and those - Chartreuse and Coal - are stunning together! And your tree? Dreamy!!!
